Fairmont's historic downtown is getting yet another makeover thanks to a recent purchase made by Main Street Fairmont.
As part of the city's revitalization efforts, the properties at 228 and 230 Adams Street will now be known as The Citizen Building.
Officials are preparing to redevelop it into a "mixed-use property" by creating affordable housing in the upstairs units and offering commercial space in the downstairs area.
"Well, it's a challenge to revitalize a downtown building and to stimulate development and activity into the building, while also maintaining its character and integrity. Main Street Fairmont feels that by doing this, we're taking a major step forward in showing our commitment to the cause and to really make downtown a better place," said Lewis Boyce.
